Little Portal

jf-networks

Hello Michael,

After looking with "your Eyes" i've to say you're right.
As I said, it's my first Site done with wb.
I'll think over the titles and the number of subpages (maybe a second Menu can help.. with maincathegories)

thanks for Your Honesty!

Jürgen

Hello!

Well, to be honest: I don't like the page.
There are some things I want to critizes:
- There are (or they look like) too many subpages in the left menu, and some have confusing titels (e.g. "Hersteller" or "Empfehlungen"- they don't fit to the kind of titels used otherwise).
- The IP-box at the right shocks too many visitors. Such things remind me of the "dark side" of the internet. But they shouldn't be on serious websites.
- The design of the page would be quite good if it's a small (personal) homepage - but for a portal like the one you would like to have some day it's too - how to say - "small" or "not-right-for-portals." And the very small, fixed width (optimized for 800x600px?) looks lost even on my "only" 17" monitor.
- The email adress for new links on the startpage... Wait some days, and it's filled with spam. A spam-safe form would suit much better.
- The link-pages also aren't really professionel. Mostly the comments don't say much about the link ("Ganz schön schräg"), some pages (like gulli...) shouldn't be there, and the use of a "real" list or table would be worth doing. Also look around in the net or bigger bookshop what's "Web Usablility" (I could only recommend the book "Don't make me think"). Afer that you will remake your website.
- Your page has the demand being the portal for the whole internet... The problem is, there are tons of that pages out there. Please rethink that idea very much and then conclude how to specialise, what your target group is, etc.
