Title: My first (personal) WB Site
Post by: englishdingbat on January 17, 2006, 10:30:52 PM
I'm running WB on my Apple Powerbook. Works a treat. Love the ability to do stuff like this. This is my 1st attempt, my personal 'intranet' site. The template is full CSS driven, although i am having some difficulties getting submenu/children to work on the side menu bar.

As is explained on the front page, the site is running on my PowerBook laptop. Due to this fact, when my machine is off-line you will not be able to view this site. In those cases, you may be directed to my personal website.

Hi Peter,

Good CFS info. I've been dealing with it for 18 years. Yes, it's a different life. BTW, nice design. get it off your Powerbook and onto a real server, okay?

First of all, it's too bright. You should either change the color of the main content page or the dark background color.

Second, I'm not sure what you're trying to do with this Website. Are you trying to sell houses or promote a Rock and Roll band?

Remove the flashing gifs - they're annoying.

Remove the XHTML gif - as an average visitor this means nothing to me and has nothing to do with selling houses. Or promoting Rock bands for that matter.

Everything past the Welcome heading at the bottom of the page should be removed. I don't care what machine your running the site on or who's hosting it. And I don't think you need to tell people that they will not be able to view your site if your machine is down. That would be rather obvious wouldn't it?

Personally, when someone comes to my Home Page I don't want to offer them a way immediately off of my site, i.e. search engines or links to someone else's site. Amazon can get it's own viewers and you're never going to make a whole bunch off of being an affiliate salesman.

I realize that this is your personal site and you want to have some fun with it and test your creative talents. And that's fine, but take into consideration some of the things I mentioned if you decide to go beyond a personal site.
