Hi,

I'll join the "pro WB" parade. I've used a decent commercial CMS for years, and made the transition to Joomla when changing jobs. At first it was ok, but it soon became apparent that Joomla's menu/content separation, bad frontend and generally overly complicated structure were too much for regular use.

I needed a system that's simplistic and therefore easy to configure, modify and extend to the projects' particular needs. WB is just that. I love it, and can't wait to see what WB3 has to offer.

Synchronizing WB with a forum was the first big obstacle with WB but finally getting it to work seamlessly with Phorum was surprisingly simple!

Hi,

Between Christmas and New Year 2006, I tested almost all packages described in www.OpenSourceCMS.com.
Since I wanted something simple, I choose WB. And today I'm still happy with it. The various sections on one page are great. And the forum is also incredible!

I agree Stefek - the forum plays such an important role and like you said, people are very helpful and friendly.

When the workload has eased a little here I would definitely like to do something back in the form of templates, just to say thank you to WB!

I can absolutely agree with this.
As I first started to use WB CMS I didn't even know, that it has such a nice forum -
I read about it in a German PHP Mag and after searching at Google, I found another (german) place, where I downloaded WB.
They also have a forum, but it's for SH*T. No pros, no help, no answers - it's just a rip off and such "projects" harms the status of WB in Germany.

After a couple of months I found this one (I have seen it before, but didn't realise that this is the official one for some reason), and I loved for at the first glance.

You will get answer. It's very friendly and straight forward.
Sure, sometimes the "Admins" cut some "off-topic" 
But they really try to bring order into the board, so we can get what we need and share what we know.

And this friendly athmosphere makes this CMS working even better. Because we feel comfortable using it.
No restrictions, no limitations.

So thanks to the developers for this great System.
Thanks to all contributors and those being involved in some way!

Couldn't agree with you more, Flamenco! I used wb years ago but not to its full potential and forgot about it. After having used many other cms's I've returned back to wb and haven't looked back since - it's the best!

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to pass along my good experience with WebsiteBaker.  I had made a site a long time ago with it, and it has worked so well that I rarely hear from the site owner. 

Fast forward ahead a couple years, and like many who use CMS systems, I'm often "shopping" when the ones I use don't have some feature I'm looking for.  I am a MODx user, and have made a lot of sites with it.  It's mostly very good, although it is still young and pre-1.0 release. 

I've also been messing around with Tikiwiki, which has a staggering number of features, though its sheer massiveness requires some study.  I also looked at Typo3, which has amazing power, but may be overkill for many things, and technically over my head.  Typolight actually seems pretty hot, and I may return to it.

Anyway, I was looking for something for my own site, which is sadly neglected much of the time.  Just a static PHP site with some includes.  I know, I know.      I was quite taken with CMSMadeSimple at first, and I still think it's an impressive application that lives up to its name.  But it is a memory hog, and after a week, I kept finding little things that I didn't like.  To top it off, their forum is oddly strict - any forum needs rules, but on theirs the "unacceptable list" is so long, I didn't feel comfortable asking any questions.  There are nice people around, to be sure, but there are 1 or 2 uberadmins who will slap you down.  I don't like to waste time with silly questions, either, but I think they are extreme.  By contrast, the forum here is very friendly and helpful. I had also even successfully answered a few questions on the forum, and that was after using the system for only about 2 weeks.

Then after looking at even more stuff, I thought, why not WB?  Since I've been away, some new features have shown up, and with my better skills I can use more of them.  It took me just a few short hours to completely convert my site, including making a new template.  Very impressive.  And I'd also forgotten how nice and small WB is, and how super-easy the admin is.  No memory problems, no odd server requirements, runs nice and fast... Absolutely Fantastic!
