they use just a home and kitchen pc (dutch expression) :P

You left the garden out!  :-D

In Belgium we also use the garden in this expression. But I think our neighbors from the north also use the garden. Maybe Bramus has no garden at all :-D

Grtz,
Luc

I do have agarden, but forget about this sorry my mistake :P
So do you also have a tree and a dog? (house, tree and dog - another Dutch saying)

Hi Bram,

Better it is in the F sign at least  :-D

greetz Irene

That could be better yes, but on the papers the company is using, they have the same "layout" and thats why i made a flash menu of it (could also be done with javascript but dont know javascript that good). The site is about to get launched, the company i'm making it for was very pleased with the design, they told me what they want and this was what they want as they said.

@ Argos
Thanks for the comment, it is different then 3 column header sites, and i like it only i think on large screens it is not that nice that the site is aligned on the right side of the screen, most people are not used to that, but the people who are visiting are generally people that dont have widescreens and they use just a home and kitchen pc (dutch expression) :P

Very nice site, a welcome difference from most typical 3 columns+header sites (that I make myself most of the times as well...).

Hi Irene,

Yes i also told that, and today i went to the customer and we talked about it and they agreed that it is maybe not a good idea, so we gonna try to move the element somewhere else. I'll let it know when it is moved and hope again on some reply's with new idea's/improvements.

Hi Bramus,

IE6 works now!

Only.... you customer has a styleguide wich precribes how they like to see it?

What they probably don't know that what works in print never works on the web.....

The customers just won't notice the menu if you place it at right-bottom.....
Web-visitors follow the sign F when they screen a website
First header than go back left-to the middle than back to the left- to right and down to the left. They will never notice righ bottom.

I just followed a usibility class where this was underlined with several eye-tests.

greetz Irene

UPDATE
Updated the menu, now it is the same as on some other advertisings below the VERKOELEN sign. And the double images are replaced and some colour fixes. Still a lot to do but lets hear what you think of it now :)

Yes i know, but the customer wanted a menu on the bottom because thats also on their company papers and all.

Hello Bramus,
it looks good now with FF 2

I like the design.

Only thing I wonder is the second menu (flash) - it seems "displaced" and I wonder if a "standard user" will recognize this as a menu at the first glance.

Stefan

i'm just asking about the design, not the content cause there is no content yet. Only the Home and Contact is working, but dont watch that cause this is still in development and it is for the design.

I see a white page only, on Merken and Aanbod

Also added a flash menu on the right bottom. Let me know what you think of it :P i'm not a flash pro and this took me about 2 hours so :P

thanks Stefek, will try to find out why that happens, a bit strange :(

And it only happens in FF2 if i'm correct, in Opera it is just working fine and in IE7 also.

I will also see why it is not working in IE6 cause it is just html with css

--EDIT--

Ok problem solved :) So if there are any more comments let me know :)

Hi Bramus,

I opened your link in IE 6 and I didn't see anything.
In FF I could see your website and I liked it.
Very nice and tastefull. !

I had the same thing with the link to the garden website with IE 6.

kind regards Irene

Bramus

Stefek what do you mean by scroll to the right?

THe site has a resolution of 950px width and it has a margin:right of 0 and a margin left of auto so it should be visible good on a decent pc.
BRAMUS Internet Services

Stefek

ice design in fact.
I'm corious, how it will look if you're finished with this.

For the moment it looks better in IE. Using FF2 you have to scroll to the right in order to see the content.

Stefek

@ Centran

If you read good it said it wasnt ready, and the thing about: Om het compleet te maken is image yes i know, but the box on the right corner is about to change to a flash object, but it was to give the customer a first impression how it looked in a browser and not just only on an PSD image as he only has seen that till now.

So things are about too change. What about the pictures yes i know, and as above it was only as to let the customer know what he can expect, the images are about to change and maybe i'm gonna do the rights long image also in Flash so the pictures are moving with the full coloured boxes, but need to think about this still.

What about the box in the middle at content that it is distracting, you have a point there, and i'm thinking about making it smaller, but then again i think i need to change everything cause those blocks are all having the same height and width so dont know about that yet.

@ Ruud

Thanks :)

@ All
As i said this is just a concept and things need to be improved. But i couldnt wait to let you see this site because i think it is a nice design but could use some improvements.

Looks nice. I like the general design. Floating to the right is an interesting choice. Different. I like it. Just be careful with content as those layouts can get messed up since things move to the right but it seems like it will be a fairly static site so it shouldn't be a problem(mainly problems arise when others start editing things)

I think the red box that goes into the main content area is distracting. That is the only design element I would change. You also have repeating picture below the nav and in the picture to the right. Where things are is fine but I would just change out the pictures so they don't repeat.

I know I said your site is nice and I like it but I just have to say this... It sucks!!!! The only reason I say that is becuase you use graphics as text. I hate that. Especially since your site is using divs!!! Why on Earth would you be using graphics for text when you are using a div/css based template?. That is a big website design no no.
I would let you get away with the image of text at the bottom of the main content area. The one that says 'Om het compleet te maken". I would let that slide but the text on the far right that is in an image is just shameful... it almost makes me want to take back all the nice things I said about your design but it is such a pretty design. Just get rid of the images as text please.

Bramus

I'm developing a new site about kitchens, here is a small impression, this will be the main part of the site, but there will be some improvements.

I'm gonna add some Flash elements and then see what the customer thinks of it.

Check out the site here!
