WebsiteBaker's future - To Do

Argos

Hi Kweitzel,

I think your diagram and organizational structure proposal is execellent. I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I would like to offer my services to the project. I am no coder, but an experienced web builder/designer, and technical writer. I have been a moderator of a very big international forum (the Template Monster forum, my alias there is "ntg") since 2004. So I could help with documentation, and by being a forum moderator. And of course in a more general way by thinking and brainstorming about developments and improvements. I also can provide server space if needed. I have two semi-dedicated Linux servers at my disposal.

Please let me know what I can do in a structural way to keep WB alive and kicking!

Per my previous post on the open discussion about the future, I am willing to contribute, but need to understand where we are going before I can commit the time.

Dear all,

after a lot of talking has been taking place but nobody comes out with any kind of commitment let me outline the things which need to be taken care of. The amount of work does require more than 3 or 4 persons taking care of it. The general structure is outlined in my Post No. 37 here: https://forum.websitebaker.org/index.php/topic,11680.msg70845.html#msg70845

1) Leaderteam: currently there is ruebenwurzel and me who are acting leaders. To us that is insufficient, as we would like to have a third leader in our team, preferably with PHP skills, since this person needs to be able to judge the work and time requirements of future WebsiteBaker releases.

2) With the "missing" leader of the development team found there needs to be a structure in place for that team and team members need to be selected. I know that a lot of past contributors are still willing to continue their work for the project, so that should not pose a big issue. My structure of the development tree should be seen as a suggestion, not as a fixed requirement!

3) The Community Team (or "public work team") I would call my pet project. Again there is loads of work for people dedicated to website Baker, even inexperienced ones.

3.1) Marketing Team - the active marketing of Website baker has been neglected in the past. Dedicated persons are required to actively promote WebsiteBaker. Experience in Marketing is a must, since the successful marketing requires strategic planning and documentation of this. Ideally this team consists of people from different nationalities or continents so that they can work on a global strategy for Marketing.

3.2) Forum Team - New moderators are needed for the different boards. The people who want to contribute in that area need to be comfortable in English as well as another language which we currently do offer boards for (Dutch, French, German, Italian). They also need to be willing to spend time in the forum on a daily basis and to promote WebsiteBaker, it's features and give support to users on WebsiteBaker issues.

3.3) Press / News Team - We do need somebody to work hand in hand with the press to additionally market WebsiteBaker. This Team can be a subsidiary of the marketing team, but does not have to. The team does however need to work closely together with the marketing team to coordinate the activities.

4) Infrastructure team - personally I hope that ruebenwurzel takes over that team and with it implements a team structure which takes care of all the infrastructure issues, including but not limited to:
- Servers & Webspaces
- Applications
- Permissions
- special projects

Now, if you see yourself as a possible contributor in one of those teams please do get in contact with ruebenwurzel or me.

For the people working already for Website baker and have kept doing so please be assured that we do not forget you or the work you keep pouring into WebsiteBaker, the projects around it and the forum! We will be in contact with all of you.

cheers

Klaus

PS: Please do not comment on this unless you want to contribute ... this is not a discussion but a call for action!
