Dutch Artist site

otto

After the reply of Irene I have checked the rendering of the site at browsershots.org . At browsershots the rendering of xp with ie7 looked fine. But after that I added the newspage and I have done something with de newspage headers, so you are right. There should only be a vertical or horizontal scrollbar (text-pages ->vertical, gallery's ->horizontal).

Thank's for the image. Maybe not your taste, but with this info I hopefully will get the rendering right.

Frames/div's and fixed-width/liquid design sounds all  to me as a metter of taste.
They all have their pro's and con's.

Sure it's a matter of taste. But I don't see any pros in 3 scrollbars and cut off content. So you may want to have a second look at the site. FYI, this is what it looks like in WinXP/IE7.

Hi Irene,

Thanks voor your comment. I will have a look at the format in IE6 .

What do you mean with "inline frames"? I only used DIV's.

Regards, Otto
Inline frames are DIV's that act like frames. Your content is shown within DIV's with fixed heights and widths. When the content is larger than the DIV's, in your case there are internal scrollbars. Your design is not flexible and doesn't let the content stretch the container div's. That is regarded as bad webdesign practice. It doesn't look good, and it has a very negative impact on usability. It's also rather silly to use small content containers in times when monitors and resolutions become bigger and bigger.

BTW, what depressing stuff this artist makes...

Hi Konrad,

Thank's for your comment. I have seen the reloading of the background as well.
But I don't know how it can be cashed. Does somebody know if the background can be cashed?

Hi Otto,

Nice job - I like its simplicity. Just a little note: the background seems to be loading on overy new page (it goes white first and then appears) as if it isn't cached - maybe something to look into?

Hi Otto,

I like the homepage!
When I clicked on the insite of the website I saw that de page doesn't show how it is supposed to be in Internet explorer 6.
In IE 7 it is much better.
Furthermore, I personnally do'nt like inline frames, and I know that google doesn't like them at all.
Just to inform you that you migth give that some thought.

Kind regards Irene
