Feedback about WB 2.7 RC2

doc

Hello,

we have just released the third (and hopefully last) release candidate of WebsiteBaker 2.7. Therefore we have closed this thread. Thank you very much for all your feedback regarding RC1/2.

Small layout defect in the admin panel:

Go to admin/start/index.php

The icons for  Pages,  Add-ons etc. are 50x50 px, but the icon for Admin-Tools is 50x40 px. Would be nice to fix.
Thanks, will be fixed in WB 2.7 final (doc)

Thanks.

Hi all.
I've completed a translation to Norwegian.

See attached .txt file.

Thanks for your addition. Done a look at your file, and there should two things be fixed before adding to WB package. 1.) the last lines are missing, when i download the attachement. Can you try to upload a zipped version instead of a .txt or .php file. 2.) All special characters should be converted to entities or unicode. (ruebenwurzel)

Regards
OEH

@ruebenwurzel.

OK. I've corrected NO.php

  • Inserted the missing line
  • I also converted all special characters like "ø" to "ø" I hope that its what you meant.

In time I'll have a look at the grammatcs as well, some of the translations are made directly
from English to Norwegian.

Regards
OEH

I've now added the language files for all the implemented modules as well.

Hi,
we have a site and database name includet _ character . But WebsiteBaker does'nt installation.
The character _ is allowed, only - is not allowed in database names. Will be fixed in the final WB 2.7 release. If you want to test the fix, use the changed files of Changeset 799 (doc)
What can i do.

I've created complete Russian translation of default modules language files (UTF-8), I hope it will help to make WB more international and it would be nice to include them in 2.7. The file is attached. I've tested it using RC2 and it looks fine.

Thanks for your contribution. But can you convert the als files to pure ANSI (not UTF8 without BOM) and also convert all signs to Unicode? Thanks (ruebenwurzel)
I have converted the files. Thanks for your contribution.

Complete Russian translation of the main language file will be available in several days.
Feel free to post this, too  :-)  will convert it as necessary.

Thanks.

Hello,
as I promised the complete Russian translation of language file is attached. It is in utf-8 and need to be converted...
Could you please write me in PM what is the best way to convert such files? So I'll be able to fix them in the future...

Thanks.

When adding a new page with an ampersand in it WB2.7rc2 cobverts it to & but then encodesit again on output so instead of getting  "this & that" on the menu, you get "this & that" on the menu entry.

I'm trying WebsiteBaker for the first time and have installed the 2.7RC2. The problem I'm having is with the massmail module. I get the following error when trying to access the massmail page in admin area:

Template Error: set_block: unable to set block list_block.
Halted.

Can you check if the following workaround works? Replace the file /include/phplib/template.inc from WB 2.7 RCx with the file contained in the WB 2.6.7 package - does this work (doc)

Same problem on local server running xampp and the live server as well. I copied the modules/massmail folder to somewhere else where Website baker is installed and tried accessing the files from there and some files appear and work properly.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Gee!

You make it really difficult for non German speakers to report bugs on any version.
The ticket system seems not to work or I am dumb enough not to understant how to use it.

Posting here seems really ridiculus since I am not able to see if this get reported earlier, and however this is not a 2.7.RC2 bug it is a all version bug:
Quote from: framework/class.frontend.php
LINE-43    var $default_block_content=true;

- true resolve accidentaly to 1 allowing some site to have their page N°1 to provide default blocks to other pages.
- if you delete / recreate you first page, its number will not be 1

I think the best to do without changing too much at that point is to have this value based on a define from the config.php.

config.php ==>   define('DEFAULT_BLOCK_CONTENT','36'); // My default page layout (hidden)
class.frontend.php ==> var $default_block_content = defined('DEFAULT_BLOCK_CONTENT')?DEFAULT_BLOCK_CONTENT:1;

In later version of the code, we can make this value recordable from the Backend

Actually, a showmenu2 connection may be inaccurate. I'm using the generic template, and I thought showmenu2 was a requirement but I looking some more and I can't see where showmenu2 is used.
The Generic template does use its own menu system, please check if the error exists for other templates too (doc)

The Generic template seems to be working okay on it's own.

However, my other installation is still not working. I double checked both config files and definitely set up with different databases and even different prefixes as well.

- I'm thinking that the installation missed a path somewhere and knocked my other template for a loop
- or else something about 2.7 is interferring with it.

I'll guess I'll have to try removing the whole 2.7 install and seeing if there is still a problem.

--- I guess it's possible that the template was edited somehow and messed up, but I am pretty sure I haven't made any changes to it for several months.  :? You know, a "last modified" field display on components might be a a good idea.

** News Module bug er, I thought it was a bug, but misread the screen, because of the same old issue that has been driving me batty as a bug!  :-P
Problem: READ MORE cannot be placed on the short description line.   The Short line is automatically enclosed in <P> tags and the anchor to the READ MORE text is OUTSIDE the paragraph. Thus, you can never have the READ MORE text appear at the end of your short description, it MUST appear as in following paragraph (and without <P> tags around it, by default).

I have a problem with page moving by drag and drop. With RC1 it runs but not with RC2. But I did install RC1 local (MAMP on a Mac) and RC2 online (Linux-Server), does this matter?
We have not changed the code from RC1 to RC2, so I guess it is related to different browser or server settings. Please install RC2 locally and test both RC1 and RC2 with the same browser and settings. (doc)

--- Edit: It was confirmed by the user, that both RC1 and RC2 work on identical test systems (doc)

Hi, just noticed a spelling error on the 'Manage Sections' panel, the hover tooltip 'calendar' is misspelt as 'calender'.
Thanks, we were able to fix this serious bug  :-)  (doc)
Really loving 2.7, the 'Admin Tools' menu link makes life much easier :D

Does anybody else run multiple WB installs in subdirectories?

I am suspicious that there are some path errors or maybe a database prefix missing somewhere.

After installing 2.7 rc2 (yes, in a separate database subsystem and another new subdirectory) I have had both my main account, which my DNS redirects to a /wb subdirectory, and another domain name (which is pointed at a subdirectory below my root www have started having issues.

I.e., I installed in:
example.com/2.7 rc 2               - located at example.com/rc2     <--- seems ok
example.com/production site1   - located at example.com/site1   <--- slightly messed up
site2.com/                              - located at example.com/site2   <--- definitely messed up

It may be mostly a SHOWMENU2 issue, as the menus are messed up for one. However, an old version of a template index.php page suddenly reappeared in site2 as well. Very strange, that one.

Can anyone else confirm this?

when I create a page with the 'private' attribute, I can see the page title in the navigation menu if I logged in as administrator only. All other user which logged in can´t see the pagetitle in the navigation menu. But they can view the page if they type in the page url manually. So the usermanagement is half-finished for 2.7. At ver. 2.6.x it works as it should.
Tested it with the latest version developer version in SVN and all works as it should. Can you please check the permissions for Administrator and Allowed Viewers for the private page? In addition can you clear the browser cache? (doc)

Sorry, but it is not working. On the web(2.6) it is working well, but the same site with the same pages, users, groups and permissions it only works to one half in the local environment (2.7)... The acces right is still there but the page is not displaying in the navigation menu. In both cases I´m using the showmenu2().
Which function in which module is decide which page is showing in the menu?
Ah, and one thing further, at home I have php5.2 and on the web there is 4.7.7
Please check in the pages settings, if viewing groups are correctly defined (viewing settings were not taken over when adding a new page). For registered pages make sure you have login enabled (WB Settings). Can you please check this with show_menu() in your template (doc)

Best regards
Frika

Added a fixed language file, some small bugs fixed, not overwatched everything but some parts. Some small fixes for correct Dutch ;)

And I fixed that one again since it wasn't all correct yet :) Also, I noticed that the used language was a mix of formal and informal phrases. Fixed that too. It's all formal. Professional software should address it's users professionally.

Thanks, didnt had time to fix all the language options, there were loads of "bugs" in it.

Beppi,

Thorn can answer that question, but as far as i know this is a webhost related problem. As i also have 2.6.7 running good on my Windows server, and a clean install of 2.7 RC2 also works fine, so i think it will be a problem at the webhost.

Hi Beppi and Thorn,

I think this problem is related to you webhost Beppi. As i just created a fresh clean install of WB2.7RC2. I just made 2 pages with both content as "bramus" in it. Then i searched for "bramus" and i did get 2 results. So no error.

Thats why i think it is related to your webhost. I think they have some configuration different then me. Maybe they are running PHP as a CGI extension. I'm running them as an ISAPI extension and that's just working perfect.

Maybe you should try to contact your ISP and ask them about this, as i dont think this is a WB related problem. And i was also wondering why running it on Windows webhost while it better runs on Linux. Most of the time Windows is also more expensive then Linux.
Good luck with solving your problem. If you need more information from me, just message me or leave a message here.

Bram

Don't tell me!! Why I had the bad idea of choosing Windows, now I should pay to transfer all to linux, so I try to keep life on Windows. :-(

I will submit the question to the webhost service, but the question is: why 2.6.7 was working perfectly? There must be something that triggers the problems now, that was not there before, and that, I suppose, could arise for other users as well: what exactly has been done on the search function?
thank you.

Beppi.

Beppi, can you maybe tell me exactly what happens, is this on all your sites on windows? I'm a webhoster that also has a windows test server running, so maybe i can try to make the same error and help a bit with finding/solving the problem.

Sorry, I only have one site, that is http://www.beppi.it/public/OthelloMuseum, hosted on aruba.it, and I confirm that it was working with 2.6.7 version.
Try a search there.
For example:
http://www.beppi.it/public/OthelloMuseum/search/index.php?search_path=&string=reversi&match=all

As told before, anyway I can give authorization for website baker developers to check if they need to, or whatever they need.

Also, if you want we can run a test by seeing what happens by hosting my site on your platform. I can copy my pages and db to your site.

Update:
the problem seems to present itself almost always  (say 99%): some very rare times it happens that the search, only if with 1 single result returned, is printed. As usua, it works 100% when there's no result to give.

I'll check this, but I don't have any access to the host platform (yes, unfortunately it's Windows). Anyway, the error is not random, but appears each and every time now and didn't appear with 2.6.7 .
If this can be of any help, I can give you full access to the site that creates the error: tell me where to write them.

Thanks for the support and for the fantastic work!
